Chapter Arts Centre (often just referred to as Chapter) is an arts centre in Canton, Cardiff, Wales. It hosts films, plays, performance art and live music, and includes a free art gallery, caf and bars. There are also over 60 work spaces, used for an eclectic range of purposes including Chapter's own training courses.

Chapter has one of the best stocked bars in Cardiff, with a wide range of whiskies and other spirits, imported beers and a rotating selection of real ales.

Income for the venue largely derives from the film theatre: as well as showing mainstream Hollywood films, it is the only theatre in Cardiff to show a considerable array of foreign and independent films on a regular basis. Along with the city's Cineworld cinema, Chapter is a venue for the annual Cardiff Screen Festival.

It has become known as a good place to spot celebrities due to the relaxed setting and the artistic people who tend to gather there.

Spaces

  • Gallery spaces
  • Two film theatres (capacities: ~250, ~50)
  • One theatre (150 standing, also seated)
  • Two bars (ground floor has normal opening hours; upstairs is open for specific events)
  • Caf
  • Eight spaces for hire (varying sizes)
  • Many spaces for ongoing art production, resident artists, etc

History
Chapter was established by Christine Kinsey and Bryan Jones in the late 1960s. The venue is a converted and extended school.

It was home to the Cardiff Laboratory Theatre. Everyman Theatre Cardiff is also based at the venue.
