Grangetown is an area in Cardiff, Wales. It is one of the largest areas in the city and has a large population of Somali and Mixed Race and Asian residents, with the River Taff winding its way through the area. It is the heart of southern Cardiff and is bordered by Riverside, Canton and Butetown. Grangetown is a diverse and multicultural district with significant Afro-Caribbean and Asian population groups. Adjacent to the city's Bay area, Grangetown is benefitting from the nearby developments and is experiencing a period of gentrification.

The population in the United Kingdom Census 2001 was 14,367 in 6230 households.

Grangetown is home to Cardiff City F.C. at the Ninian Park ground. It is also home of Grange Albion and Grange Catholics, two of British Baseball's most successful teams. Both play their home games at Sevenoaks Park. Grange Albion celebrates its centenary in 2007.

The suburb was built to house the many workers who moved to Cardiff to work in the industrial boom of the nineteenth Century, particularly centred in the docks.

Grangetown railway station is located on the Vale of Glamorgan Line from Cardiff to Bridgend via Barry, Rhoose and Llantwit Major, with branch lines serving Penarth and Barry Island.

Government
The Grangetown electoral ward is part of the Cardiff South and Penarth constituency. It is bounded by Canton to the north west; Riverside to the north; Butetown to the east; and the Vale of Glamorgan to the south west.
