Monkton is a village in Wales. The road leading west from Pembroke, Pembrokeshire leads through the older village of Monkton, which has now been amalgamated with the main town.

Monkton has a primary school, and the priory building from which the village takes its name, has become a ruin. The Priory Farm (believed to have been the main residence of the Prior) has long been occupied as a family home. Legend has it that there was a tunnel connecting Monkton vicarage with Pembroke Castle, with lurid myths of a man and his dog finding their way in, but only the dog emerging, having lost all its' fur out of terror...

The Old Hall in Monkton dates from around 15th century or possibly earlier and has been restored by the Landmark Trust. It was probably associated with the priory.

The long-defunct railway station is home to the St Govan's Youth Choir. In contrast with earler times, when Monkton was renowned for having a public house on every street corner, these days there is only the Priory Inn, squatting at the entrance to the sixties built Monkton Housing Estate and Monkton Swifts long standing local football team and clubhouse. Savour the words "sixties built housing estate" and let your imagination fill in the gaps...

Another well known spot is the wonderfully named Catshole Quarry the long-time home of travelling families in the area.

To the north of Monkton are the Monkton Marshes, a well known region for observing migratory birds, especially ducks.
