Newport Castle - stands on the west bank of the River Usk, Newport, South Wales. The castle was built between 1372 and 1386 by the Earls of Stafford to guard the settlement and control the river crossing. By the 18th century the castle was mostly ruinous. Today it is in the care of Cadw.
